DETAILS
Inside the Old Castle in Stuttgart, now home to the Landesmuseum Württemberg, a precise metal architecture was integrated as part of the redesign of selected areas. The historic vaults and massive wall structures provide a calm framework for contemporary surfaces made of bronze.
ZinCuTec was responsible for the refinement of the interior cladding. Large-format elements were executed in bronze and were closely coordinated with the existing building substance. Complex oversized components had to be constructed from copper. Through a custom-developed patination process, ZinCuTec precisely matched the copper surfaces to the bronze areas and ensured a homogeneous material effect.
The controlled patination process gives the metal a deep, warm tonality with a quiet shimmer that sensibly blends into the historical spatial structure. The precise surface treatment significantly contributes to the atmospheric quality of the interior and demonstrates how heritage-protected architecture and contemporary metal design can merge into a cohesive unity.
