Bundesverfassungsgericht

Federal Constitutional Court

DETAILS

At the seat of the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe, the facade architecture has been complemented by a precise brass shell. The clearly structured building mass receives a calm, dignified materiality through the metal, which corresponds to the institutional significance of the place.

ZinCuTec realized the brass facade with a deliberately reduced sealing. The surface has been treated so that it may naturally change over time. Wind, light, and weather write their own patina into the material, giving the building a lively, continuously evolving appearance.

The restrained surface treatment allows for authentic aging of the brass. Instead of static perfection, a facade with character and depth emerges, making the dialogue between architecture and time visible.

Thus, the metal design combines technical precision with a clear architectural statement: permanence, openness, and a willingness to change in harmony with time.
