St Paul's Cathedral
DETAILS
As part of the roof renovation at St. Paulus Dom in Muenster, a large-scale metal surface was newly crafted. The sacred structure, with its distinctive silhouette, calls for a materiality that conveys both durability and dignity.
ZinCuTec patinated approximately 16,000 square meters of roof area, developing a consistent and precisely controlled surface effect across the entire expanse. The key challenge lay in the sheer scale of the project and the careful calibration of tonality, ensuring that despite the vast surface area, the overall impression remains calm and homogeneous.
Through a finely controlled patination process, the metal acquired a natural depth with nuanced color variation, harmoniously integrating into the cathedral’s historic appearance.
In this project, ZinCuTec’s large-scale surface treatment combines craftsmanship with architectural respect, demonstrating how sensitive, long-lasting metal design can be realized even on a monumental scale.
